Maple Canyon Ward Girl's Camp

Right after we got back from Yellowstone, I took off for another week-long camping adventure with my ward's girl's camp. We went to Bear Lake for what we like to call woosey camping, because we camped at a beach house. Granted, the girl's were still in sleeping bags on the ground, but not in tents, and we did have a house to cook and shower in. In this picture, the girl's are sailing boats they constructed out of cardboard boxes. The winner was whose ever boat stayed afloat the longest.

Constructing the boats

A fun food activity. We made toss around ice cream one afternoon. You put in ice cream ingredients in a baggy, place that baggy in a larger baggy with salt and ice and then wrap it all up in newspaper and duck tape and toss it back and forth. Only takes about 20-30 minutes to have a frozen ice cream treat. The girl's loved it!

We even had a dance one night. It was supposed to be a beach party, but the city of Bear Lake sprayed for mosquito abatement that night, so we had to stay indoors.

We had some great sand sculpture artists create some great sand creatures. Take a look at this "sea lion".

A little water activity. The water was cold and the girl's had to wear life jackets, but they all seemed to love getting into the water.

Another shot of the "sea lion"

Of course, you can't have camp without skits, so here is one of ours.

And since I was in charge of the food, a couple of pictures showing how well the food was received. Camping always makes one hungry.
Lots of good food, lots of happy campers.

It was a fun experience and I enjoyed getting to know the girl's better. I wouldn't mind doing it again, if I can skip the hike again!
